A History of Marvels
Posted by Panio Gianopoulos on Saturday, October 13, 2012

Recently, I interviewed Sean Howe about his excellent new book, Marvel Comics: The Untold Story. Knowing that our conversation was being recorded for Salon.com, we tried to keep the level of discourse to a reasonably non-geeky level. Except for a few nerdy chuckles and shared exclamations of arcane recognition (“Can you believe the cosmic cube showed up in The Avengers movie?”) we focused on the dark and dirty side of Marvel Comics, a serpentine, repeating drama of ambition, innovation, and burgeoning corporate control. No Kitty Pride fanboy retro-fawning here, and miraculously, not once did either of us make a “snikt” sound effect…
Saving that for Halloween.
